We arrived at the Chough's at around 1.45am and waited until 2am when the bar closed to start the baseline tests. These did not provide any EMF or temperature anomolies.
After waiting for the staff that would be staying with us for the night to clear up, we had a quick chat before starting the investigation.
02.45 am. Investigation started.
02.58 am. During a quick walkround with Jason, when the group were in the bar, the burglar alarm seems to go off of its own accord, even though it isn't set.
03.00 am. Group split into three groups:
Roger, Kelly, Wayne and Anna - Bar
Scott, Dan, Jason and Maria - Long Room
Lewis, Deb, Kerry and Richard - Pink Room
03.11 am. The group in the bar decide to try a ouija board. Within moments of the group starting this, Kelly begins to cry.
03.20 am. Group in the bar hears a bang above them.
They also report that the planchette keeps moving to the letter U.
No other activity reported from the other groups
03.29 am. Entire group move to the bar.
03.35 am. Trigger object set on pool table, along with an MP3 recorder.
Kelly feels the presence of a small frightend girl and cries on and off throughout the seance, at around the times that the spirit if the old man is called for.
Both Jason and Dan feel the presence of this man and feel as though there is strong ill feeling from this spirit.
Richard, who was sitting next to Jason, feels alot of pain in his own body and at times his body seems to move as though he is fighting something.
No distinct bangs or knocks were heard, although banging was heard from around the bar. However these were hard to distinguish from the bar equipment.
04.10 am. Seance ended.
04.15 am. BREAK
04.30 am. Group moves to the Living Room.
04.33 am. Anna feels a tap on her shoulder.
04.36 am. Dan feels a kick in the back of his leg.
Before this the temperature readings were very erratic, rising from 21°C to 33°C until Dan felt this phenomina before it dropped back down to 21°C.
04.39 am. As alot of people felt throughout the night that a particular spirit was trying to get them on their knees, Dan tries kneeling in the middle of the circle. During the time that he tried this, several of the females reported that something was trying to get them to do the same.
04.43 am. Dan decides to go to the attic alone, and see if we could try to invoke activity in there with him.
I asked the group to ask if he could be touched on the head, however he could hear movement with him.
When I asked for the group to ask if he could be touched on the right arm, he heard a moan and footsteps.
04.54 am. Anna decides to swap with Dan, however on the way to the attic, she feels drawn to the Pink Room.
During this time, Jason comes up with the name Monmouth and a battle.
He also gets an image of some cowards who ran away from this battle, who hid 'down'. He felt that even though they were found, they were left where they were, and that their remains are still there.
04.56am. Seance ended.
05.00am. Scott, Lewis, Roger, Deb and Wayne go to the Purple Room.
The rest of the group try a seance in the attic.
05.10am. I am called to the attic as Jason and Dan are acting strangly. After the seance is closed, Dan says that he had an image in his head of him hitting/scratching and Jason's face. 05.19am. Maria, Kerry, Roger and Dan try some glass divination in the bar with myself witnessing.
05.25am. What sounds like a faint whistling is heard by the group.
05.35am. The group of four decide to try a ouija board.
When asking for initals, the planchette moves from M to L to K.
When asking for an age, the planchette moves to the number 4 twice.
05.40am. Maria and Kelly try the ouija. Here are the questions asked (as a follow-on from the previous attempt):
Are you the little girl? Yes
Are you home? No
Do you know of anyone upstairs? No
What year is it? 7/8
Is there anyone else here? 1
Are you scared? Yes
Of the man? Yes
Is he old? No response
Do you want to say goodbye? No
Can you spell? No?
05.50am. Ouija ended.
After closing the ouija board down, we try one last group seance in the bar, with no activity reported.
There was also no movement of the trigger object.
In conclusion, not a terribly active night as hoped as there was no physical activity to report, apart from the touches that were felt in the Living Room. It would have been nice to of heard some tapping in response to questions, but ghosts (if they really are there,) aren't circus animals, so maybe another day.
Alot of the group felt emotional things throughout the night, Jason, Dan, Kelly and Richard the people feeling the most. It is not for me to question if they had these experiences or not, however, in Richard's case, where he felt the pains, he had just worked a busy Friday night and this could have been his body telling him to rest.
In Kelly's case, this was her first investigation and this could have affected her emotions.
The only explanation for the temperature increase could have been that I had been holding the laser thermometer by the sensor so this could have affected it in some way, however this was a couple of minutes before the temperature started to rise. Interesting none the less.
Verdict : Possibly Haunted, worthy of another investigation.
